  • work in the disability field;
  • meet new people and be active within the community;

Volunteering with TransitCare is approved by Centrelink.

All volunteers are required to undergo the following:

  • Australian Federal Police Check.
  • Working with Children Check and NDIS and Disability Workers Screening.
  • First Aid certificate.

      These are undertaken at our cost.

      Roles currently available:

      Community Transport Drivers
      Our fleet operates between 6.00 am and 6.00 pm Monday to Friday in Logan, Redlands, Brisbane South and surrounding areas. We also offer volunteering opportunities in both our Townsville and Cairns branches.

      We are seeking volunteers who are:

      • prepared to give two or more days or half days a week (i.e. 6.00am to 12.00 pm or 12.00 pm to 6.00 pm);
      • comfortable driving in city and suburban areas in all weather and road conditions;
      • physically fit and able to carry shopping bags, collapse and assemble walking frames and wheelchairs;
      • friendly with an outgoing personality;
      • holders of an Open C class licence;
      • eligible to hold a General Industry Authority.

      If you don’t wish to, or are unable to drive, we have other opportunities available.

      Social Support Programme
      Our Social Support programme operates from TransitCare Head Office in Loganlea from Monday to Friday each week.

      We are seeking volunteers in this area who:

      • may be available for one or more days each week;
      • can participate in activities with our clients including art and crafts, music and gentle movement, games and quizzes;
      • can assist with the preparation and serving of morning tea and chat with our clients;
      • ave or are prepared to undertake training in safe food handling.

       

      Bus Trip Assistants
      Our bus trips travel each week day and vary in length of time between 9.00 am and 3.00 pm for Social Support trips and 7.30 am to 5.30 pm for our bigger adventures.

      We are seeking volunteers interested in bus travel who are:

      • available for one or more days each week;
      • able to assist in the preparation of morning tea and equipment needed for certain trip;
      • physically fit and able to assist clients on and off buses; collapse and assemble walking frames and wheelchairs;
      • friendly with an outgoing personality;
      • able to assist with serving morning tea and lunch as needed;
      • prepared to undertake training in safe food handling.

      Fleet Assistants (afternoons only 2.00pm – 5.00pm)
      We are seeking volunteers in this area who are:

      • available for one or more half days each week (ie 7.00 am to 12.00 pm or 12.00 pm to 5.00 pm);
      • comfortable driving vehicles to suppliers for repairs and maintenance or undertaking general deliveries;
      • physically fit and able to wash the exteriors of vehicles and mop or vacuum inside of vehicles;
      • holders of an open licence preferably HR or above but C class licence holders will be considered.

      Office Administration
      There are many areas within our operation that need administrative assistance. We are seeking volunteers in this area who have:

      • an excellent telephone manner;
      • strong computer skills;
      • experience with general office skills, knowledge of accounts payable and or receivable (helpful but not essential).

      Membership

      TransitCare Ltd has a voluntary membership fee which helps fund our organisation and assists us in providing you with the best possible service. It also entitles you to vote at the Annual General Meeting. You will also be invited to client forums which help shape the direction of transport services for the future.

      Membership is voluntary and does not impact access to any of our clients in using our services. Only registered clients may pay membership. Those who are travelling as carers are not necessarily registered members.
