TransitCare has formally completed its Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), marking an important milestone in the organisation’s ongoing commitment to working respectfully and meaningfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across its service regions.

The reflect RAP provides a clear framework for how TransitCare will strengthen cultural understanding, build enduring relationships with First Nations communities and organisations, and deliver transport solutions that are culturally appropriate and responsive to unmet needs. It publicly affirms TransitCare’s responsibility to listen, learn and act in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders.

Through the RAP, TransitCare commits to deepening organisational knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, traditions and aspirations, while embedding cultural awareness and respect across all levels of the organisation. The plan builds on existing relationships with First Nations partners and acknowledges the importance of being guided by community voices as TransitCare continues its reconciliation journey.

TransitCare’s workforce has strongly supported the development and delivery of the RAP, with staff actively engaged in initiatives that promote inclusion, learning and cultural capability. As part of this commitment, TransitCare aims to strengthen its position as an employer of choice for Indigenous Australians and to further enhance the diversity of its workforce.

By completing its Reconciliation Action Plan, TransitCare joins a growing number of Australian not-for-profit organisations taking practical action to advance reconciliation. The organisation views the RAP not as an endpoint, but as a foundation for continued learning, stronger partnerships and more inclusive service delivery.

TransitCare looks forward to the next phase of its reconciliation journey and to continuing to make a positive difference for First Nations communities through respectful engagement, collaboration and action.
