TransitCare used NAIDOC Week 2025 to focus on listening, learning and building stronger relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Queensland.
CEO Amanda Mather travelled to Townsville and Cairns to meet with staff, clients, community representatives and government leaders, including Cairns Regional Council, TAIHS and Wuchopperen Health Service. Conversations centred on improving access to transport and support services in North Queensland and ensuring services are inclusive and culturally responsive.
On the Gold Coast, TransitCare staff attended the NAIDOC Community Day, taking part in cultural activities, hearing stories and learning about traditional fishing practices such as the mullet migration. Teams across the state reflected on how to continue supporting First Nations clients every day, not just during NAIDOC Week.
TransitCare acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which it operates and pays respects to Elders past and present.
